Embracing the Virtue of Love: A Reflection on 1 Corinthians 16:14

In the book of 1 Corinthians 16:14, the apostle Paul invites believers to let all that they do be done in love. This simple yet profound command encapsulates the essence of Christian living and serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of love in our lives.


The verse emphasizes the importance of sharing our truth in love and flooding our actions with grace. This notion of sharing truth in love highlights the delicate balance between speaking the truth and doing so with compassion and empathy. It challenges us to communicate honestly and authentically while also considering the feelings and perspectives of others.


Moreover, the concept of flooding with grace encourages us to extend kindness, forgiveness, and understanding to those around us. Just as grace is freely given to us by our loving God, we are called to be conduits of grace, showering others with the same unmerited favor and compassion that we have received.


At the core of it all is the overarching command to let love guide all that we do. Love is not merely an emotion or a fleeting feeling; it is a decision, a behavior, a choice that we make daily to prioritize the well-being and happiness of others. When we approach our actions, relationships, and endeavors with love as our guiding principle, we create a ripple effect of positivity and transformation in our lives and the lives of those around us.


Living out 1 Corinthians 16:14 requires intentionality and mindfulness in our words and deeds. It challenges us to set aside selfish ambitions and ego-driven desires in favor of selfless love and compassion. Her responsibilities included leading adolescent substance abuse groups, conducting extensive assessments for adolescents placed into state custody, working within the juvenile justice system, and providing services for outpatient and day hospital patients.

                                                                                                                                        Background and Experience: Dr. Haas joined Meier Clinics in 2004 and has worked in a variety of settings with clients since 1998. Dr. Haas attained her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL.  Her clinical internship was completed with Carolina Medical Group in Charlotte, North Carolina, which included rotations in primary care physicians’ offices, school-based services, mental health emergency rooms, as well as child and adult inpatient and outpatient services. Dr. Haas is licensed in the state of Illinois as a Clinical Psychologist.

                                                                                                                                        Special Interests & Services: Dr. Haas currently counsels children, adolescents, and adults within individual, family, and marital counseling. She also provides psychological and A.D.H.D. testing. Approaches to eclectic therapy that Dr. Haas commonly utilizes include cognitive-behavioral, family oriented, and client-centered methods.

Nancy enjoys traveling and has been to Europe several times with family and friends. She will continue to visit other countries, learning about the cultures and customs of different people groups as she travels.
