Intake Process / What to Expect
Intake staff members are available to answer questions regarding providers, programs, insurances accepted, or any other inquiries over the phone from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday at 1-888-725-4642. We also help assess for the type of care that you might benefit from the most and provide assistance with getting scheduled.
Making an Appointment
For those looking to schedule an outpatient appointment, we will spend 5-10 minutes with each caller gathering specific concerns and reasons for coming in. This helps us make appropriate matches with a counselor and also gives the counselor a good understanding of your needs within therapy and/or medication consultations. We will take your schedule and possible insurance network into consideration as providers vary by hours available and insurances accepted. All information received over the phone is confidential and placed in your clinical file if you become a client.
Our adult Catalyst program and adolescent Breakaway program are designed for those needing more than once or twice a week counseling, but who do not require 24 hour care in a hospital setting. We can help evaluate whether or not our programs might be a good match for your present concerns.
Clients over the age of 18 years old must schedule their own appointments at Meier Clinics. Family members may call for information or provide details, yet the client must call to schedule for individual counseling, medication management, one of our programs, or testing services. If marital or family counseling is desired, only one adult attendee needs to call to schedule.
Reduced fees for counseling sessions may be available for those who are uninsured, or have public assistance, and meet financial qualifications. If you are needing a service we do not have available at this time, Meier Clinics will attempt to provide courtesy referrals if available.
We are unable to schedule first time appointments in person at our clinic. Please utilize our national and local phone numbers for completing the intake process.
Our insurance department will check your mental health benefits and provide an estimate of coverage to you before your scheduled appointment. For our adult and adolescent programs, we verify all insurance benefits. Please have your insurance card accessible at the time of your initial call.
If we are not contracted with your insurance plan, you can chose to private pay, and we will give you a coded receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Counseling and Psychiatry (Medication Management)
Individual, family, marital, and couples counseling are available at most locations, and sessions are typically 50 minutes in length.
Initial medication evaluations with a psychiatrist are typically 50 minutes in length and follow up appointments are up to 30 minutes long.
Psychological and Neuropsychological Testing
During the initial appointment, a psychologist will meet with clients to gather clinical information and determine or verify what specific testing is necessary. For those using insurance, the provider will request approval from the insurance company before the testing can begin. This approval can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Follow up sessions will then be scheduled to complete the testing. After tests are completed by the client and the psychologist, the tests will be scored and a report developed. A final meeting time is typically arranged to discuss the findings and clinical suggestions.
Your insurance policy may not cover all types of testing, so partial or full self pay may be required in some instances. Additionally, testing is not available at all clinic locations.
