Susan M. Carey, PhD

Education: Masters in educational psychology and counseling at the University of Wisconsin. Masters in Theology, Masters in Clinical Psychology, and Doctorate in Clinical psychology from Fuller Seminary.
Specialty Training and Experience: Dr. Carey taught pre-school through twelfth grade, including special education and gifted studies, for fourteen years. She gained clinical and neurological experience working at the Brain Injury Unit of the University of Washington Hospital and at the Neurology Department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She currently works as a school psychologist for Seattle Public Schools, Washington.

Publications: Dr. Carey was on the committee which developed the ethics manual for school psychologists in the State of Washington for the Washington Association of School Psychologists. She wrote chapters for a book on physical, emotional and spiritual healing, and introductions to chapters on cross cultural communication for Dr. Charles Kraft at Fuller Seminary. She also wrote a Divorce Recovery Coloring Book.
Daniel D. Hartman, PsyD

Education: Masters and Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University, in La Mirada, California.
Specialty Training and Experience: Dr. Hartman has developed inpatient, outpatient, and day hospital programs. He has also trained and supervised therapists. He has been a licensed psychologist since 1987.
Groups: He currently facilitates two groups out of Northgate.
Special Interests: Includes depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and character disorder in individual, group, and family formats. He enjoys the challenge of difficult diagnostic clarification issues and complex cases. Dr. Hartman provides individual, family, marital, and group psychotherapy.
Jeffrey Stover, MS, LMHC, PhD

Specialty Training and Experience: Dr. Stover joined Meier Clinic in 1999 in the outpatient Clinic and in 2001 began working in the Seattle Day Program.

Carol M. Christensen, MA, LMHC

Education: Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Speech Communications from the University of Washington. Graduate degree in Bible from Multnomah College of the Bible in Portland. Master's degree in Spiritual Nurture from Western Seminary in Seattle.
Specialty Training and Experience: Ms. Christensen gained mental health experience working at three inpatient psychiatric facilities and an outpatient chemical dependency center. She served for ten years as the executive director of a national youth organization. She spear headed a national campaign and committee addressing substance abuse and sexual issues students are confronting in public schools. She has served as an adjunct professor of counseling at Puget Sound Christian College and has over twenty years of Christian ministry experience.
Groups: Carol has developed groups based on her book Power Over Panic, Answers for Anxiety. In addition, she facilitates psychotherapy groups that include some of Meier Clinicss' best-selling titles: Avoiding Mr. or Ms. Wrong, The Mom Factor, Safe People, Boundaries, Addicted to Love, and Love is a Choice. She has also developed new therapy groups for women and spouses dealing with sexual issues.

Publications: The first of Carol Christensen's three-volume self-help series, Power Over Panic, Answers for Anxiety. Megan E. Jones, MA, LMHC-A

Special Interests and Services: Megan works with adolescents and adults on a wide range of issues. Her therapeutic approach is a combination of Object Relations and Cognitive Behavioral therapy. She has a special interest in helping adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety or depression. In addition, Megan enjoys helping those struggling with relation conflicts in the context of marriage, family, or other relationships.

Robin M. Moore, MS, LMHC

Background and Experience: Before joining Meier Clinics, Robin worked as an Intern Counselor at Northwest University.
Special Interests and Services: Robin's professional interests include anxiety disorders, codependency, depression, eating disorders, and sexual issues. She has a special interest in helping couples navigate life-transitions such as pre-marital, parenting, empty nest, or grief and loss. Robin also enjoys working with young adults who are struggling to define themselves and their relationships. She combines Narrative Therapy with Cognitive-Behavioral and Family Systems Therapy approaches.

Hanna Hollie Swardstrom, MSW

Education and Training: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education from Wadworth College. Master's in Social Work from Aurora University, Aurora, IL. Nursing degree from Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's School of Nursing. Attended Fuller Seminary for Psychology and Family Studies. Licensed by the state of Washington as a counselor since 1998.
Background and Experience: Hollie worked as a school social worker in the Naperville, IL, school district previously and was a research coordinator in behavioral studies. She was a public health nurse and a consultant in the juvenile court as a counselor for DuPage County, IL. She has been counseling adolescents and adults since 1987.
Special Interests and Services: Includes working with children, adolescents, and adults on a wide range of issues. Hollie uses cognitive behavioral and solution focused approaches, focusing on interaction and education of clients' roles and skills.

Jeff also worked as a campus minister at the Universities of Washington and Kansas in the 1980's.

Mary Beth Woll, MA, MHC

Background and Experience: Mary Beth worked for three years as the Director of the Lynnwood and Everett Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Following that, she worked for New Hope Child and Family Agency, facilitating adoptions by working with birth parents before, during, and after the adoption placement. After taking special training in the area of Inner Healing, she worked with Rita Bennett as coordinator of her Emotionally Free Seminars. Mary Beth helped introduce the Teen Aid (Abstinence Until Marriage) curriculum into her local public school system, taught Teen Aid at the middle and high school levels, and coordinated the district-wide Teen Aid program, including recruiting and training pastors and youth pastors, along with other speakers, to teach Teen Aid in the public schools. Currently, she is working with a local church by providing support to the leaders of a Celebrate Recovery ministry, a Christian-based 12-step recovery program.
Special Interests and Services: Mary Beth works with adults on a wide range of issues in addition to those listed above.
